The Lauric Acid helps prevent high blood pressure and high cholesterol. It also helps prevent atherosclerosis.

Killing Bacteria

Coconut oil contains Lauric Acid, a fatty acid that makes up 50% of the saturated fat in coconut oil. Lauric Acid can kill bacteria, Viruses, Fungi, and fight infections. It helps to improve your immune system as well. You can even use coconut oil to fight bacteria in your mouth! Try swishing a small spoonful of coconut oil in your mouth for 20 minutes every day. After 20 minutes, spit the oil into the trash, rinse your mouth out with water, and brush well. The coconut oil draws the bacteria out of your mouth, and can even help whiten your teeth!

Better to Cook With

Different oils respond differently to high temperatures when cooking. This is based on the fat composition of that specific oil – when those fats are heated beyond their max temperature they can lose their healthy qualities and actually become harmful to your health. Common cooking oils like vegetable oil or even olive oil should not be heated above 350 degrees. Coconut oil has a higher heat index, and can be heated to 425 degrees before it loses it’s beneficial qualities.

Coconut oil can also be used in several different cosmetic ways. Studies have shown that coconut oil can improve the appearance and health of skin and hair when used as a moisturizer. It can even protect against the sun, as studies show that it blocks about 20% of the sun’s harmful rays. It also helps protect your skin and treat against various skin problems including eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, and other skin infections.

Try regularly massaging your hair with coconut oil. You will find that you have less dandruff, lice-free, and your hair will have a shiny, soft appearance.
